Indie Union Calls For Strike Action

Protestors seek greater government regulation of pop industry

The indie music scene is expected to come to a virtual standstill next week, in protest at the current unhealthy state of the music industry. It is hoped that this display of solidarity will convince the government, or at the very least Andy's Records, to act now to combat the threatening dominance of manufactured pop acts and illegal Nu-Metal immigrants.

"They're taking our livelihoods, our audience, and our riffs - and there's no government regulation in place to stop them," said Noel Gallagher of up-and-coming indie group The Oasis to NoiseMonkey, "Downing our tools and having an indie-free day is the only way we can make the Labour Party listen. Er, figuratively that is. They won't actually be able to listen to us. What with there being none of our music to listen to and that."

A high turnout of indie bands is expected to attend the London strike rally, which will take place in front of the CD and cassette section of the Oxford Street branch of WH Smiths. Several of the leading lights of the indie scene have already collaborated to pen an unbelieveably catchy, heart-breakingly moving protest song, which in the spirit of the day they will be deliberately not playing.

The protesting indie stars will allegedly be joined by campaigning comedian Mark Thomas who will be forcing passers-by to 'taste test' from two boxes - one containing a big pile of Westlife CDs and the other a big pile of horse manure. It is uncertain at present whether this will be filmed for Channel 4's 'The Mark Thomas Product' series or whether in fact Thomas will just be doing it for his own personal amusement.

EditorMonkey

Hello and welcome to NoiseMonkey, the manufactured music news site!

NoiseMonkey is a website dedicated to making up news stories about the weirdly wonderful and wonderfully weird world of music. Think of it as being like a big book of fairy tales. Only with fewer goblins. And more Fred Durst.

In this latest issue, indie stars go on strike, Eminem gets angry, and Moby dresses up. And remember kids - illicit recordings of NoiseMonkey are a poor substitute for the finished site.

New Eminem Album To Lyrically Attack Queues, The Weather, Airline Food

Collaboration with that bloke from the Halifax adverts planned

Eminem's new album is set to be his angriest yet, according to a piece of paper found lying around in a room that may or may not have been in the same building as his record company. The Detroit rapper (real name Mr Eminem.N. Emineminemineminem) was recently voted the second angriest musician ever by Moosic magazine, losing out to Pavarroti by a gnat's whisker.

The album tackles a range of subjects close to Eminem's heart, from the unpredictable British weather on opening track 'Slight Chance of Showers', to his dislike of buses and public transport on 'You Wait For Ages (Then Two Turn Up At The Same Time)'. It is also rumoured that a track about students entitled 'Have a Wash and Get a Job' (originally written for Celine Dion) may be released later in the year as a Christmas single.

Controversially, the rapper is to collaberate with that singing bloke from the Halifax adverts on two angry tracks. The first, an angry song about how much Eminem hates queueing up for ages in bank branches, is likely to face a radio ban in the UK due to its heavy use of the word 'bum'. The second, entitled 'Airline food', contains the controversial lyrics: "Airline food/What's that all about?/When you eat in restaurants/They don't fly you to foreign countries."

Eminem has stated that he's very excited about the new record, and that he really enjoyed working with both the bloke from the Halifax adverts and long-term producer Dr Dre.

"I'm really excited about my new record!" said Eminem excitedly to NoiseMonkey, "And I really enjoyed working with the bloke from the Halifax adverts and, um, someone else. Who was it again? Oh bum, my memories terrible. Wait a sec. No, its gone again. Sorry, can't remember."

Buzz Aldrin Stalked By Spacesuit-Wearing Moby

Funny little dance artist believes himself to be astronaut

Ex-NASA astronaut Buzz Aldrin is threatening legal action after being stalked by funny little dance artist Moby. The musician behind the best-selling album 'Play' has been taunting Aldrin by following him everywhere dressed in a homemade version of Aldrin's 1969 moon expedition spacesuit.

"It was funny at first. Y'know, kinda flattering," said Aldrin to NoiseMonkey, "But when he started following me to the supermarket, to ball games, to funerals - it stopped being a joke. I mean, I'm more than just an ex-astronaut - I'm a person too. I've got feelings."

Aldrin politely asked the dance artist to take off the spacesuit and to stop following him. Moby allegedly looked 'puzzled' at this request then bounced away on his moon boots as if under a lower gravity. Since this confrontation, Aldrin alleges that the spacesuited performer has maintained his stalking from a greater distance, unsuccessfully hiding behind trees and lamp-posts whenever he is spotted.

The keen-eyed will be able to spot that Moby wears the spacesuit in the celebrity-heavy video for his latest single 'We Are All Made Of Stars'. This, says Aldrin, is the final insult.

"Its just gone too far now," Aldrin told NoiseMonkey, "People will think that he's just wearing the suit for that one video to jump on the whole 'cool' NASA bandwagon, but he's not. He really thinks he's an astronaut. That video is an insult to moonwalkers everywhere."

GigMonkey

The Vines

A Small Caravan Site
Wednesday 1st

With their latest explosive single 'Highly Evolved' (incidentally banned from being taught in music classrooms throughout the southern states of America) clocking in at about 95 seconds this gig promises to be an exciting but short-lived blast of great rock'n'roll. Why not spend the time saved playing a game of volleyball with friends perhaps, or completing a particularly difficult jigsaw?
